The Co-Operators are a Bristol-based studio band that create hand-crafted reggae and dub, paying tribute to the sounds of 60s, 70s and 80s Jamaica, releasing their music through their own label Waggle Dance Records. Following 2020’s collaborative record Rhythms from the Kitchen Sink, is the new single ‘Misty Mountain Skank’, a title that paints a pretty accurate picture of the track. A drum roll introduces the song, followed by swampy off-beat guitar chords soaked in delay and woody percussion floats into the distance. At a steady, wandering pace, the drums play a satisfying open hi-hat pattern whilst the bass remains rooted and understated, inducing a serene meditative state.
